Wojciech Kilar, Laureat of the "Totus 2009" Award

The composer has been awarded a special jubilee Totus award for "the persistent opening of beautiful roads, leading to faith, hope and love, undertaken through many years in many arenas of life".

:namespace prefix = o ns = 'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office' />For 10 years the prize has been awarded by the Foundation of the Polish Episcopal Conference "Work of the New Millennium." The ceremony took place on Saturday, November 7, at the Royal Castle.

Wojciech Kilar, in thanking for receiving the award, said “I can not imagine a more honourable distinction than a reward from my church.”
 
In the category of achievement in Christian culture Krzysztof Kolberger was honoured. In the category of human promotion, charitable work and education/upbringing – the Mutual Aid Association "Być razem" (‘Be together’) from Cieszyn. In the category of Totus media, for commemorating Bishop Jan Chrapek and his role in highlighting the person and teaching of John Paul II in the media, the creative team that made the film "Popiełuszko. Wolność jest w nas" (‘Popiełuszko. Freedom is in Us’) were given an award.
