Stanisław  Moniuszko

(1819-1872)

Stanisław Moniuszko, considered to be the founder of Polish national opera, composed 13 stage works, almost 400 songs (grouped in 12 Domestic Songbooks, among others), operettas, masses, cantatas, symphonic works, ballet music, chamber and piano works. His artistic activities were of great importance for Polish national culture.
